Download and Running the CRM DiagTool
NOTE: This tool does not work remotely, it has to be executed locally on the Target server!
- Go to the location of the CRM diag tool (Path where you downloaded it to) then run the CRM diag tool in crm server
- Note: You can download the tool from here: http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/crm/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=4011
- Choose “Dynamics CRM Server”
- Click “Disabled” button to enable the trace.
- Note : Ensure that you run this just before you get the error because the trace files can take up a lot of space and with a lot trace files it will make it very difficult running through all of them to find the issue.
- Trigger your error in CRM then open up the tool again and click on the “Enable” button to disable the trace.
- Button showing “Disabled” means that the trace function is disabled
- Button showing “Enabled” means that the trace function is enabled
- The location of the trace file can be located at the following path: {System Drive}:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Trace
- Note: This will be the location of where CRM 4.0 is installed.
- Open the file in zip trace with CRM Trace Log viewer.

- You can also download a freeware tool to analyse the trace log files.

- Then you can start analyzing your CRM 4.0 error.
