Running CRM 2011 Diagnostic Tool

Features of the CRM 2011 DiagTool that is available:

  • Open trace directory (avoid browsing the file system)
  • Zip trace files
  • Clean trace directory (clean only files that are not locked by CRM services)
  • Enable/Disable Development errors
  • Generate a report about your CRM 2011 deployment

Enable/Disable tracing

To start the Trace follow you can follow the steps
  1. Go to the location of the CRM 2011 diag tool (Path where you downloaded it to) then run the CRM diag tool in crm server
  2. To start the Trace click on the “Enable trace” button

  3. Trigger your error in CRM then open up the tool again and click on the “Disable trace” button to disable the trace.
  4. To locate the trace files you can go to the path you specified in the tool. eg. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Trace
  5. When you are finished doing the trace you can also download a freeware tool to analyse the trace log files.
